Here is a few little suggestions that will help turn your home into a Victorian delight:
Have an ottoman or footstool? ~ Buy some lovely fringe in the upholstery department and attach it to your ottoman.
Throw on a rug or two ~ In Victorian days the wealthy carpeted with oriental rugs. It can be very inexpensive to reproduce that look! Also layer rugs, adding a small throw rug under a fancy long legged table or in front of a fireplace.
Display your collectables ~ Use a corner cupboard, etegere or set of wall shelves to house a special collection. Create tabletop vignettes with framed pictures, vaces, small odds and ends, and treasures of all kinds.,
Tassels ~ Hang a big tassel on a door knob, furniture pull, or tie one on a chair back. Don't forget to use them for ceiling fan pulls, tiebacks on lace curtains, hang one from your lamp.
Door knobs ~ Replace some door knobs with reproduction or authentic glass knobs.
Fancy work ~ The Victorians spent hours doing needlepoint and embroidery. Frame a snippet of fancywork for your tabletop or wall.
