Creating The Look That
Says Victorian
A resource page with decoratoring tips
Here is a few little suggestions that will help turn your home into a Victorian delight:

Have an ottoman or footstool? ~  Buy some lovely fringe in the upholstery department and attach it to your ottoman.

Throw on a rug or two ~  In Victorian days the wealthy carpeted with oriental rugs.  It can be very inexpensive to reproduce that look!  Also layer rugs, adding a small throw rug under a fancy long legged table or in front of a fireplace.

Display your collectables ~ Use a corner cupboard, etegere or set of wall shelves to house a special collection.  Create tabletop vignettes with framed pictures, vaces, small odds and ends, and treasures of all kinds.,

Tassels ~  Hang a big tassel on a door knob, furniture pull, or tie one on a chair back.  Don't forget to use them for ceiling fan pulls, tiebacks on lace curtains, hang one from your lamp.

Door knobs ~  Replace some door knobs with reproduction or authentic glass knobs.

Fancy work ~  The Victorians spent hours doing needlepoint and embroidery.  Frame a snippet of fancywork for your tabletop or wall.
